Sweden-based independent research and development company MoRe starts up its spin-pilot equipment

ÖRNSKOLDSVIK, Sweden, Dec. 20, 2012 (Press Release) -The spin-pilot, that was installed at MoRe last fall, is now in full operation. During the fall, Sara Hellstrom has trimmed the equipment and MoRe is thus alone in Europe that under the same roof have a complete chain of pilot equipments; from chipping, cooking and bleaching, via the viscose pilot, to finished thread in the spin-pilot.

It has been an interesting fall with work to learn about the spin-pilot and tune the equipment so that it functions as intended, says Sara Hellstrom. In it, we can use different combinations of spin baths, thus offering customers projects in the entire chain from raw materials to the finished viscose thread. Customers will be existing dissolving producers, upcoming players in this field and various research initiatives.

We have already noticed a great interest in projects in this area, since the future demand for viscose is expected to grow by at least 10% a year, says Stefan Svensson. Therefore, a number of pulp producers are investigating their potential to increase their production of dissolving cellulose or alternatively, convert their present pulp process towards this area. In these works our pilots fit ideally right up to the finished thread.

By evaluating the spin process and thread characteristics, knowledge of the dissolving cellulose for further technical or textile viscose materials is collected. The pilot is owned by Processum Biorefinery Initiative, while MoRe operates it.
