SPRINGFIELD, MA, Nov. 21, 2012 (Press Release) -On December 4-5, 2012, the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) will host its final Folding Carton Boot Camp workshop of the year at PPC's headquarters in Springfield, MA.

The popular Boot Camp is designed for those who are new to carton construction (including industry veterans), as well as non-plant personnel with minimal experience apart from a single plant operation. The program is designed to equip its graduates with a deeper understanding of the products and services their companies offer.

The workshop follows the entire folding carton production process. First, instructors explain how fiber is recovered and paper is made. Next, industry experts describe the uses of various inks and coatings as well as the processes involved in prepress, including CAD, layout, and graphics. Then there is an overview of the tooling, embossing, foil stamping, stripping, finishing, gluing, and windowing processes. Finally, the workshop concludes with an assessment of automated packaging equipment.

To credit the completion of this essential educational program, students are awarded a certificate of achievement at the close of the program.

Numerous company executives have found value in sending staff members and attending themselves. As Barry Fisher of Carded Graphics raved, "Boot Camp was professionally done and I would recommend it to anyone coming into the paperboard carton business."

Boot Camp is open to PPC members, brand-owners, and non-members. To register or for more information, call Michelle at 413.686.9191, email michelle@ppcnet.org, or visit www.ppcnet.org/bootcamp.
