VANCOUVER, BC, June 18, 2014 (Local News) -Canfor Pulp Ltd. is suing Andritz Inc. for $25 million in damages that occurred following internal explosions in a recovery boiler at Canfor's Northwood mill after Andritz had allegedly "substantially and significantly upgraded and modified" the equipment in 2011.

Canfor filed a notice of civil claim in BC Supreme Court on May 23. The company claims Andritz's bid for the upgrade was accepted with a contract price just above $9.1 million. The boiler upgrade, according to the claim, was to bolster the plant's environmental protection by lowering sulphur emissions and to increase pulp production while reducing fuel consumption.
