North American forest products rail freight up 3.8% in the latest week ending July 19

OAKLAND, CA, July 25, 2014 (RISI) -North American forest products rail traffic in the latest week ending July 19 was up 3.8% from a year ago to 19,459 carloads. Volume through 29 weeks of 2014 at 537,569 carloads was down 0.6%.

US forest products carloads in the week were 6.4% higher, Canada was up 0.1% and Mexico surged 58.3%.

Year-to-date volume in the US was 2.7% higher, Canada was 5.3% lower, and Mexico was up 3.5%.

Total North American carloads in the week rose 8.1% and year-to-date was up 3% from 2013.
