BOGALUSA, LA, Sept. 14, 2012 (Local News) -The plan to make improvements at the wastewater treatment plant that was found to be at fault for the massive Pearl River fish kill of August 2011 have been approved by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and pre-construction activities are now under way.

International Paper, which acquired the Bogalusa mill from Temple-Inland in February, announced the approval this week.

The Aeration Stabilization Basin optimization plan, which was submitted by the Bogalusa mill, is a result of a comprehensive review by internal experts and external wastewater treatment consultants.
